National Day Celebrations

National Day celebrations always come with early dismissal, something that I simply love. The celebrations this year seemed rather inferior to the ones in the past 2 years. Somehow the entire "National Day" spirit was dampened throughout Singapore; I mean I used to see literally every household with one flag up.

This year, I'm not sure why, nobody seems to have the mood for Patriotism, as I can safely say that roughly 40% or less of the average number of units have the national flag up. Furthermore, in the past years there used to be a new national day "theme" song every time we celebrate. This year, there seems to be none of that. The marching contingent this year was not too bad, but not spectacular either, with the NCC being the point of attention, with their disjointed and messy marching during the initial march pass. Got a good laugh out of that. Nothing special worth mentioning about the performance.

Went to coronation to eat lunch with velden and the two nicholas'es, walking from the NY bus stop all the way to coronation, probably the most tiring part of the day(lol). After lunch we initially intended to go to the lan shop in coronation, but as we all know, there are always people who are more kiasu and more kan cheong than us, and the lanshops were packed like sardines.

Proceeded to take a bus ride to HMV to browse around, and saw zijing there(ahhhhhh yeong keONG).

But that's besides the point. =)

We were there actually to look for gifts to buy for the seniors(I suggested that we use the budget of $10/sec4 to buy 20 chaptehs for each and every one of them, but they said no), decided that we would buy some high-class wallets and pencil boxes as our budget was not very high, and we could not find a common interest amongst them besides chapteh. Although so, we managed to hold on to nicholas'es lobang because famous "The Wallet Shop" in Singapore is actually his family's business! And thanks to him we were able to obtain a whopping 30% discount on all purchases. Velden bought a wallet that said "China rawks". LoL.

The rest of the day was pretty boring, with nothing much accomplished. Did we play LAN? no. Did we go and bowl? no. Did we watch a movie? Cheng did, but for us, another no. So, we were just wondering around in Cine. Saw many people I knew in Cine, including JinYu(P6), Timothy(Gepper), and Shawn(Kensington).

Also bought Jamie Cullum's album, really relaxing music. I could lie down, close my eyes and just doze off listening to his music. For those uninformed, he sings Jazz music, something that many people of my age in Singapore don't appreciate. Felt heartened when I found out that Nicholas and Kevin Cheng like him too.
